Week 90 - Perth, Western Australia - May 1, 2017 - Good Week

A and C. C is also joining the church in the next couple weeks. He's such a cool guy.

It's always a good week out here in the field! There's never anything to complain about! This week Pres Fife came out with us to two of our lessons - one with A which was sooo good. A is making big steps. He is so ready. I know he will make it...And one with an Eternigator named S that has been coming to church on and off for like 3 years. We went in there and Pres Fife just smashed him (He had some pride) but it was awesome. One of his main concerns was actually just giving up coffee....out of all things that is seriously what was stopping him...so we had an awesome lesson there....

Not to sound trunky cuz i'm not! So ya know how Assistants always kinda get a first look at everything well I Saw my flight Itinerary for when i leave Aug 10th... I fly from Perth To Johannesburg South Africa where i have a 6 hour layover then i head straight to Sao Paulo....Not too bad of a flight. i don't think it's as long as the one over here!

Anyways This week was just really good....We smashed out the work- did a lot of finding...we find people who are soooo keen and they feel the spirit but then the minute they find out they are gonna have to change as a result of their confirmation of truth they get scared and bail....but We will keep going. I know the field is white!

At night time if our plans have fallen through and it's like 8 o clock we just head into the depths of the city and talk to everyone...Its pretty crack up. We always see funny things happening...The baptist preachers are always down there howling at everyone and they go hog when we come by. Its hilarious....as a missionary you get used to everyone just cranking their heads when you walk by. It is going to be weird when everyone doesn't stare at me in public places!

I just finished the Book of Mormon again...It's true, simple as that...I cannot deny.

So Kelly is coming, Louie could get his call??? Lots going on. I can't wait to hear how it goes! We are hitting the Temple next week so I will be emailing on Thursday... I love you all!

Week 89 - Perth, Western Australia - April 24, 2017 - Meetings

So this week was packed with zone conferences and traveling....Zone conference went well..In the leadership training we trained on how the best leaders are the best followers, and also how to effectively use exchanges to influence your missionaries...then in conference we focused on How to Effectively decide who to continue to teach and work with in your area, and did heaps of role plays...Twas good...

This week I got some good news, Do you remember that homeless guy under the bridge, Elder Brinkerhoff found? Well he got baptized so that was cool to hear...

Also a lady we found down in Rockingham a few months ago is getting baptized in 2 weeks...And K called me.(18 year old boy he was teaching in his last area.)  It was good to talk to him. He is living out in the bush but he is still reading the Book of Mormon and wants to be baptized still...So it was cool to see some things happening with past people I've taught!

A is still battling, He isn't giving up. He is so close. Keep him in your prayers....We are praying that cigarettes will make him sick and that he won't even be able to tolerate the smell anymore...

26 And now, behold, who can stand against the works of the Lord? Who can deny his sayings? Who will rise up against the almighty power of the Lord? Who will despise the works of the Lord? Who will despise the children of Christ? Behold, all ye who are despisers of the works of the Lord, for ye shall wonder and perish.
27 O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need. Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him.
28 Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.
These verses sunk deep into my heart this week, Remember how dependent we are on Christ, When we begin to think that we can go it on our own and continue on the straight and narrow path, we have been deceived...The mission has shown me How completely Dependent I am On the Power Of Christ in my life. I Know that without it I will surely fall. I testify of the reality of the Living Savior and his ability to sustain us and strengthen us to change us into who we need to become.
I love you all:) And shout out to King who put his papers in! I am pumped to hear the news! You are the man! I love you! Such an experience awaits!

Week 88 - Perth, Western Australia - April 18, 2017 - Lose your life and Find it

Yee Haw!

Hello Guys:) lots of exciting things I am hearing from back home...Louie is weeks away from his mission call...btw mom you should tell Sister Brown in Gosnells to tell me where Louie is going so I don't have to wait till p day to find out! I can't wait to hear! I am so excited for Matthew...he has no clue what's coming just like i had no clue but he will never regret it. What a blessing to serve! I would take him as my companion any day of the week!

And 70 days from hitting the MTC and then Big Brazil for the big time mission haha! What an adventure awaits! Remember the words of John Wayne "Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyways" You guys got this!  And of course I heard the news of the Green trip....A full day on section A and a full day on B....You guys are so lucky....cant wait to see the pics!

This week A has made some awesome progress. He is so ready to be baptized he has seen some awesome miracles as we have fasted and prayed with him...His urge to smoke has gone down Heaps and now he has gone 3 days with only 2 puffs on a cigarette....He'll get there...

Met some other cool people this week....just working with them and helping them to progress!

It's awesome working so close with President Fife. It is super cool how he counsels with me and my companion....It is a blessing to be able to witness the revelation he receives for the mission...There has been a few times when we have been meeting with President when the Spirit has spoken through me that has affected the outcome of some important decisions....This has been a blessing for me to learn How the Spirit works and how to effectively counsel to come to discern God's will.

Remember Always, For Whosoever Will save his Life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. I Promise you this is true...I have never been more miserable than the times I am only thinking of myself, and I have never been happier and felt truer peace than when I entirely forget myself and turn outward....This I know for a fact! How could this be if we were only a result of Evolution!

I love you all! Have a week filled with true Joy!

Week 87 - Perth, Western Australia - April 10, 2017 - GC

General Conference on the mission is like the ultimate Recharge! I feel so ready to continue this battle for my own soul and for the souls of men! Some talks that stood out to me were Russell M. Nelson's, Elder Sabin's, and 2 of my favorites were Presdient Uchtdorf's and President Eyring's in Priesthood session...Straight up power!!!

I was particularly enlightened by this teaching by President Nelson: "It is doctrinally incomplete to speak of the Lord’s atoning sacrifice by shortcut phrases, such as “the Atonement” or “the enabling power of the Atonement” or “applying the Atonement” or “being strengthened by the Atonement.” These expressions present a real risk of misdirecting faith by treating the event as if it had living existence and capabilities independent of our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Under the Father’s great eternal plan, it is the Savior who suffered. It is the Savior who broke the bands of death. It is the Savior who paid the price for our sins and transgressions and blots them out on condition of our repentance. It is the Savior who delivers us from physical and spiritual death. There is no amorphous entity called “the Atonement” upon which we may call for succor, healing, forgiveness, or power. Jesus Christ is the source. Sacred terms such as Atonement and Resurrection describe what the Savior did, according to the Father’s plan, so that we may live with hope in this life and gain eternal life in the world to come. The Savior’s atoning sacrifice—the central act of all human history—is best understood and appreciated when we expressly and clearly connect it to Him."

I am so grateful for the blessing of modern day Apostles and Prophets. I do not doubt their statements of Testimony or their special witness. I believe them with my whole heart.

Something I have been learning a lot about is Learning and Exercising our Faith as a Principle of Power. This is something that is not easily understood and much harder to learn how to enact. Faith in Jesus Christ is developed as we Hear the word of God, Hear the Testimony of Others, Study the scriptures, Labor in fervent Prayer, take upon ourselves Covenants, and follow his example of selfless service.

We as members of the Church are here to Labor with God. We are here to act not simply to be acted upon. Once we have developed Faith in Christ God wishes to teach us More about how He exercises His power, to help us to continue to walk to path that will lead us to become like our Eternal Parents.

This Power of Faith in Christ can Cause things to be that otherwise would not have been. It is not changing the will of God. It is acting as Agents in his Glorious work of Salvation! God works among His children according to their Faith and if you think he isn't limited in his involvement in our lives and the lives of others by the Faith we have in Him and His Son you have not understood the scriptures.
Alma 12:30 Enos 1:18  3 Nephi 5:14 Alma 37:40 Alma 14:28  Jarom 1:4 Alma 57:21  Mormon 9:37 Ether 12:29
Mosiah 27:14

Any phrase stand out to you in those? God's work and His glory is to bring to pass our immortality and eternal life....this work would be frustrated and our spirits would be crippled if he Blessed us and worked in our lives NOT according to our Faith in Him and His son.

It requires a complete Submission of our will to His. It is the key to success in missionary work not only in bringing souls unto him but in Changing and becoming exactly who your Father wants you to become. This kind of Faith cannot be achieved on our own. It is a divine bestowal after our wills become aligned with the Father's...Not all at once. If God gave us everything to work on at once we would be overwhelmed and discouraged but as we learn how to discern for ourselves the will of God and to continually ask ourselves the question "what lack I yet"? and "what am I holding Back that I need to give up"? He will answer that prayer... It's usually something he has told us over and over again:)

I love you all! Hope you have a good week:) I testify of Christ and his living Reality. I have Faith in Him and hope to be able to bless the lives of many with that faith.

Week 86 - Perth, Western Australia - April 3, 2017 - Gonna be a good week

OK.....not really a missionary activity.
Well I heard from all of you already that conference was unreal. I. have been so excited for this conference. I can't wait to spiritually feast upon the Word of God and receive renewed vision and clarity! Sounds like Gridley has been the bomb as usual, I would love to play some whiffle ball right now and take a dip in the pool:) but I wouldn't leave here if i had the chance. I love the GROWTH ZONE! Spiritual growth is often like watching grass grow but if you look back after many weeks and months you will see a different you! Hopefully a more Christlike reflection...

A is doing awesome...I have so much love for him. He went his first full day without smoking at all yesterday so we gotta keep him going...It's hilarious cuz whenever we are at his house crazy things are happening in the neighborhood. You could say it's a bit of a ghetto but we watched some crazy woman attack her boyfriend with a metal rod the other day....it's funny how casual it actually is these days. We don't really even react because of how normal it is....the guy was all goods tho. No damage done...

Went on an exchange with a Filipino elder this week....He is actually quite a large guy but he ripped his pants full wide eagle open while we were biking haha! He was keeping the commandment to "let his light so shine" just from the back end...lol He insisted we call in the dogs so he could change...

We had some Colombian investigators that were super keen on coming to church this week but never showed...One of them was sooo interested by the Book of Mormon because he studied ancient Mayan, and Aztec History in University so he was quite intrigued...

Jacob 4:10

10 Wherefore, brethren, seek not to acounsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand. For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in bwisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works.
If we can learn early on in our life that the purpose of prayer is not to change the will of God but bring in alignment our will with His we will save ourselves a lot of wasted time....I have a strong testimony that Prayer is True communication with God....I have a sure knowledge that he hears our prayers and answers them but he does love us too much to give us everything we think we currently need:)

You are all my inspiration! Hope your week is as good as mine will be!
